Fusion Partners With Ironman Champion Andy Potts04-Jun-2015
(AALBORG, DENMARK) -- FUSION, THE DENMARK-BASED MANUFACTURER OF HIGH-PERFORMANCE TRIATHLON APPAREL, AND U.S. PROFESSIONAL TRIATHLETE ANDY POTTS, THE WINNER OF MORE THAN 25 IRONMAN AND IRONMAN 70.3 RACES, HAVE OFFICIALLY TEAMED TOGETHER FOR A MULTIYEAR PARTNERSHIP. POTTS WILL TRAIN AND RACE EXCLUSIVELY IN FUSION APPAREL GOING FORWARD.
A former All-American swimmer at the University of Michigan, Potts was a member of the 2004 U.S. Olympic triathlon team and has gone on to enjoy a storied 12-year professional career as one of the sport’s most successful athletes.
“We’re thrilled to partner with Andy and are excited to welcome him to our Fusion family,’’ said Chance Regina, Fusion USA's General Manager. “Along with being one of the sport’s most-dominant professionals, Andy has long been one of triathlon’s most-approachable and genuine ambassadors of the sport. His high-level of character and infectious positive outlook make him a natural fit for Fusion as we look to grow our brand globally.’’
This season, Potts, a father of two, has worn FUSION’s one-piece Speed Suit while posting a win at the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga in May and defending his Ironman 70.3 New Orleans title in April.
“It’s been a great start to the season,’’ Potts, 38, said. “The performance, comfort and improved aerodynamics I get from the Speed Suit have really paid off for me on race day. I’m looking forward to a great partnership and am excited to represent a high-quality company and help it expand in the U.S. and around the world.”
Since 2003, when he earned USA Triathlon Rookie of the Year honors after only 18 months of triathlon-specific training, Potts has gone on to record wins at some of the sport’s most iconic races, including Ironman Lake Placid (2012, 2013), Ironman 70.3 Oceanside (5 wins) and a record six titles at the famed Escape From Alcatraz triathlon in San Francisco. He also won the 2007 Ironman 70.3 World Championship title and finished 4th in the 2014 Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, four months after capturing the Ironman Coeur d’Alene title.
